It’s that time of the year again. The 2018 FIFA World Cup, held in Russia this year, begins tonight with countries fighting for a place in history and an opportunity to hoist that remarkable trophy. This time of the year is also when bets get made, arguments get chippy and the going gets tough. Everyone wants to win, which is why Paul Smith and New Balance are collaborating to launch a limited edition capsule collection of trainers and footballs so that you’ll be the one who comes out on top. The men’s New Balance 576 Trainer, designed and made in England, is bathed in black luxurious Kangaroo leather uppers that is otherwise reserved for slight accent details. While others only get a pinch of the material, your feet will be completely draped in it, giving you both the comfort and stylistic edge you need to take the trophy home.Behind the New Balance “N” logo tapered neatly onto the side of the sneaker, is a heel counter accented boldly with Paul Smith’s Signature Stripes. The distinctive colours and stripes simply give the New Balance shoe an additional flare that beats out the rest of the competition in terms of style and aesthetic. Plus, it’s exclusive only to Hong Kong, so while everyone else may be glory-supporting Spain or Argentina, you’re real with what you have and looking even better being the original. Also attached with the shoes is the FIFA Quality Pro Destroy Football, dyed with a mixture of colours and stripes that you’ve come to recognise from Paul Smith. Predominantly a light baby pink, the football is enveloped with colours of blue, beige, red and yellow that stands out on a field of green. Of course, engraved in the middle is New Balance’s sleek white logo, a visually stimulating masterpiece that perfectly complements the shoes. If that isn’t enough to make your competitors cry, the collection also offers a MiniBall, just to “playfully” spite the ones that don’t have what you got. With this array of tools at your disposal, all bets are off.
