FIRST LOOK: Bottega Veneta Cruise 2019 Collection The modern pre-collection of Bottega Veneta Cruise 2019 collection has gotten a bit more sophisticated and so Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier have split this into three distinct groups. Maier explains these groups function as mini collections with one delivering in November, December and January. With the client in mind, each one is what he or she might need or want at the time when pieces arrive in the store.

An extension to the theme of the Fall-Winter 2018 women’s collection, intense palette in colours like deep orange, marigold yellow and Baccara rose makes a return. Winter signatures double cashmere and double wool becomes sporty in an oversize duffle coat and jackets with exaggerated toggle closures. Chunk and volume can be seen in other look. The tones significantly changes with the second group with icy washed pastels, wanting to pair the light colour with the dark winter days to lift up your mood. Tactile materials such as dense boiled cashmere, Steiff Schulte teddy bear fur and even a touch of lace are used. The final group is a prelude to spring time. Mismatched prints and patterns bring out the energy and excitement of the new season. Each motif is created from tiny dots, giving the illusion of a houndstooth or wallpaper print from afar. The looks are layered so that you can easily put on or take off according to the weather.

The gents are also given their version of the three groups. Also continuing the Fall-Winter 2018 theme, graphic checks and rich colours are at play. If you are heading north for winter, Lush mélange knits, patented shearlings and a double-wool duffle coat should do the trick. The next group has a more upbeat colour palette with mixing whites and desert hues punctuated by pops of bubblegum pink and mint green. For the last group, Maier addresses sprint by bringing out the illusory dot creating discreet pointillist versions of classic menswear checks: Prince of Wales, windowpane and plaid. The Cruise 19 collection takes care of you from winter to spring. Isn’t Maier thoughtful.
