The luxury wristwatch brand carrying the last name of the most influential watchmaker has finally refurbished its home in New York City, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Spanning 240sqm, Breguet reopened its flagship store right around the corner of St. Regis Hotel with a new architectural concept that captures the romance and classicism of its wristwatches. Wooden flooring and brightly-lit patterned glass wall panels keep in line with the familiarity of its confines of flagship stores around the world. This cosy and intimate atmosphere welcomed VIPs in November for a mini-celebration that brought together guests from around the world for another upclose look at the craftsmanship of Breguet’s wares as well as try their hand on some of the historical watchmaking tools that are still used by their artisans today. Also, guests got to appreciate the rare appearance of heritage pieces such as an 1817 pocketwatch made by its founder. There was even something for movie buffs with a replica of Winston Churchill’s Breguet pocketwatch, dubbed the turnip, recreated for the Joe Wright-directed movie, Darkest Hour, on display. This masterpiece was just one of 35 tourbillons made by Monsieur Breguet himself.
