Stella McCartney's menswear collecton draws on subcultures as an inspiration

For all the things that Stella McCartney has padded her design CV with – and we do mean a massive range spanning from Olympic Games gear to that popular line of sportswear with Adidas to even a lingerie line – she has surprisingly never dabbled in menswear on a full-time basis. Well, until now… and it’s about damn time. All set for spring 2017, the British designer has finally made her long-awaited debut in a segment that many can agree on that she already has the chops and vision to deliver. Her design ideology of melding form and function works in tandem with her unique British quirk. And when it comes to marking this milestone 15 years since she launched her eponymous label, McCartney knows how to throw on helluva party (this coming from the lady whose graduation show in the mid-'90s already featured models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell). This go-big-or-go-home mentality can already be gauged by the venue: the iconic Abbey Road Studios, paying homage to music and fashion (and also her famous dad). But the live musical acts aren’t too shabby either, reading like an epic music festival wish list: DJ sets by Neneh Cherry, Paul Simonon (Clash) and Dan Donovan (Big Audio Dynamite), Mike D (Beastie Boys), and Basement Jaxx and musical performances by Professor Green, DMC (Run-D.M.C.), and John Cooper Clarke, just to name a few. If you didn’t attend this epic love fest between fashion and pop culture, the good news her milestone-marking collection for men is already ready for pre-orders and will be in stores comes January.
