This is probably one of the most worst kept secrets if you’re a Sanrio fan. Those who own a Nike Air Presto shoe featuring a Hello Kitty print back in 2004 will be glad to stop answering queries about whether that particular footwear cop was a bootleg. Such a sneaker did exist – and in two variations – which are now only available on secondary market sites and were never initially released to the public (they were given out to family and friends). The good news is, fans of this character about a little girl moonlighting as an animated cat (Google this if you don’t know the goss) can now get their hands on a 2022 version which is nearly two decades since that one and only release that never came to fruition. This sky blue Air Presto comes with all the kawaii cuteness needed to power through today’s grim reality. Putting smiles on faces is a repeated monogram of Kitty White’s profile all over the blue upper and there is even rubber stamp of her famous red bow on the tongue. Look to the heel tab for another adorable reference: Hello Kitty’s famous facial features and accessory of choice. Even the shoe pad is of a chipper print which possibly references the greens of suburban London, her supposed real address. The shoe is expected to launch on May 10 along with a pair for toddlers as well as a line of ready-to-wear.
