We won’t ever know if Chanel’s Virginie Viard designed the latest Coco Neige collection with some Blackpink and Jennie in mind. But one thing’s for sure, the black and pink colourways that dominate the sporty winter-themed series are spot on in style and symbolism. This also means that Jennie is also the perfect model to make sense out of these pieces that are slated to hit retail stores in October. Being part of this fashion push is a big moment for the South Korean as she marks her first Chanel campaign, her long-awaited debut since signing on with the fashion house just over two years ago. Lensed by Inez & Vinoodh, the shoot was also centred on the 25-year-old’s nod to the different facets of the Chanel attitude. We were told that Jennie was tasked to convey “irreverence, nonchalance, freedom of movement, and elegance” – all of which are also perfect descriptions of the K-pop star (if you ask any Blink about it). As for the clothes, you don’t need to be warming up to a fire in below freezing temps to appreciate this drop. Hot pink cashmere cropped tops, Chanel logo-lavished turtlenecks, and even a camellia-loving belted jacket are appropriate for slayin’ as much as sleighing. Trust Jennie on this one because if there’s one thing we know she loves to do, it’s looking chill in the snow.
