Okay, this isn’t exactly a how-to on perfecting the Derek Zoolander signature pout but it’s probably your best shot at flexing the same bravado IRL. Steel sports wristwatches have ranked pretty high on the buying charts in the last couple of years or so that watchmakers have begrudgingly looked at them as the answer to coping with any slow growth. And if you believe what you read in the business news, well, it still isn’t possible for the big brands to manufacture more – at least not right away. Why are stainless steel watches on fire at the moment? Think lower supply, higher demand, and super high profits – the same strategy that hype fashion have been applying for awhile. Brands like Rolex and Patek Philippe have made stainless steel rich again in this scenario, bringing the prestige of the material closer to that of gold and platinum. While naysayers can scoff at the preposterous waiting list for popular models, those who want their wristwatches now can look to several other brands for a quick fix. And if you know a thing or two about hype, these steel wristwatches with a handsome blue dial are what you should be parking good money on. It’s no coincidence they share a similar build – a solid bezel and a seamless bracelet construction – because it is just what people want. It’s a fuss-free design and a clean look that screams money.
