It has been nearly two-and-a-half years since Kat Von D unveiled she was venturing into footwear, an announcement that was embellished by the fact it was going to be a vegan line too. After an immensely long wait – like all good things, they say – the celebrated tattooist and make-up mogul finally launched her namesake footwear label on November 1, coinciding with World Vegan Day. The first drop features 13 styles in materials such as coated canvas, faux fur, and vegan leather made from apples – all of which are also sustainable. Each shoe design speaks to the goth vibes that she is known for, although she hopes her shoes designs are universal. An example of what to expect is a pair of black satin witch shoes that features a replica of a real Victorian buckle that she has kept in her possession. The shoes are priced between US$90 and US$350 and Von D reveals that they are all made in Florence, in the same factories as shoes from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, and Gucci.
