You remember G-Dragon? That K-pop kingpin from Big Bang who led the fashion and music scene for more than a decade before departing for 20 months of compulsory national service is finally back to reclaim his spot. This Nike Air Force 1 sneaker collab is just the start of his reclaimation project, nicknamed Para-Noise, and it is released under his fashion label PeaceMinusOne. There are plenty of Easter eggs in this shoe for diehard fans excited to know the secretive pop star’s innermost thoughts, having only made a few social media posts in the last couple of years. And in accordance with his character, the 31-year-old’s take on the iconic Air Force 1 is as cryptic as ever: think of the upper with a black-painted overlay that fades over time to reveal his personal art work. Other points to note include a daisy embroidery on the tongue (his fave flower) as well as custom pins on the upper eyelets that are removable. And G-Dragon isn’t holding back on his inspirations for the shoe in his press notes: “Ever since I came across hip-hop as a kid, AF1 has had a meaning greater than just shoes. I couldn’t afford them, so I would always pass the Nike store and admire them with my eyes and heart only. For those who loved hip-hop culture, oversized clothes, hats and matching-coloured AF1s was the uniform.” The sneakers will be released on November 23 – and if you’re a G-Dragon diehard, you’re probably on the waiting list.
