Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And in Bulgari’s case, we’ll be seeing their iconic Serpenti Forever Bag reimagined in the mold of one of fashion’s most dominant rebellious designers – Alexander Wang – as part of their ongoing “Serpenti Through the Eyes Of” series of capsule collections. While the capsule collection also features five other bag designs, including a belt bag, a duette, a shoulder bag, a shoulder tote, Minaudière and a two-in-one satchel, it is the Serpenti Forever Bag that is the star of the show, having just recently been reinterpreted by fellow contemporary designer Nicholas Kirkwood in 2017 and forming an integral part of the Roman maison’s history. And when it comes to the 135-year-old fashion house, the 35-year-old designer certainly does not disappoint: Inspired by the original snake-head piece from the ’60s dug from the Bulgari archives, Wang has refashioned it according to his trademark urban wild-chic attitude, as markedly seen across the modernised serpent head jewel resting on the surface of the bag. Not to mention Wang’s signature high-low approach that has allowed his designs to be beloved by global consumers of all ages and demographics, with the capsule using traditional packaging components including a watch box, dust bag and a paper shopping bag that once again work some incredible Alexander Wang magic of transforming everyday overlooked items into desirable pieces added to your list of handbag staples. And no collaboration with Alexander Wang ends without featuring his muse - Hailey Bieber. And indeed it does not, as she fronts the Bulgari campaign pictured with the black, white and mint green (an ode to Bvlgari’s green tea fragrance, Wang’s favorite growing up) leather bags. Expect the limited-edition handbags to feature all over your IG feeds from September onwards, just in time for New York Fashion Week.
