Inspired by classic Cuban links, it nods to wider cultural references, from hip-hop to skate culture, and a dynamic community of collaborators

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year and a half or so, you’ve probably heard of a certain person named Virgil Abloh. From being part of Kanye West’s entourage, to starting his own successful brand Off-White and now assuming the mantle of Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director, Abloh has infused his edgy, streetwear aesthetic into the pieces of Louis Vuitton that has captured the hearts of the fashion-minded youth. There are now plastic chains on almost every men’s leather goods, including Abloh's softer interpretation of the classic Louis Vuitton trunk all while flexing his fashion authority. And now, in a direct extension of his leitmotif for the fashion house, Abloh is debuting his first men’s fashion jewellery collection for Louis Vuitton in a series of his iconic chain-detailed pieces. Featuring a collection of Louis Vuitton monogrammed Cuban link-inspired necklaces, bracelets and rings, the LV Chain Links series is an interpretation of Cubain chain jewellery that is close to Abloh’s heart and his desire to express his cultural upbringing as well as the other diverse subcultures he proudly advocates. Coming in both necklace and bracelet forms with two variations, the first is a palladium-finish that's perfect for daily wear, and minimally decorated with the LV Monogram. The second is a more vibrant rendition reminiscent of the rainbow spectrum of colors that was prominently featured in Abloh's debut collection for Louis Vuitton. So depending on whether you're feeling more colorful for the summer days or keeping it sophisticated for your cocktail party, it's an adaptable piece of jewellery that has once again left us in awe at Abloh's burgeoning rise to fashion icon status.
