Some call Russell Street in Causeway Bay as one of the busiest shopping districts in the world. And it doesn’t take an expert to see why with the human traffic that occupies the narrow roads and the number of luxury brands jostling for shop space to hawk their wares here. 243-year-old Swiss watchmaker Breguet joined this illustrious group of upmarket labels in November when they opened their second store in Hong Kong – located on the ground floor of Soundwill Plaza – following their first across the harbour at 1881 in Tsim Sha Tsui. Big names from the Swiss headquarters arrived in Hong Kong to help give their blessings to the event, including CEO Thierry Esslinger, seventh generation of the watchmaker and head of patrimony and marketing Emmanuel Breguet as well as the head of international sales Dimitri Aubert. But the real party was located just a stone’s throw away from this venue at the iconic The Pawn in Wan Chai. Along with the showcase of historic watchmaking gems like Winston Churchill’s fave No. 765 pocketwatch, discerning guests got to experience a live watchmaking demo as well as a cognac and cigar tasting session. There were even photobooths that allowed guests to leave with a photo showing the backdrop of the map showing the location of the new boutique.
